My name is Edith Parten. I am a proactive public relations professional with more than 10 years of experience in marketing, public relations and media relations. As of July 2018 I am a master’s student at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. I anticipate a June 2019 graduation. My undergraduate degree is in communications from the University of Alabama.

Here’s a little bit more about me. I have expertise in multimedia storytelling, feature writing, news writing, magazine publishing, developing strategic communication plans, content strategy, social media management, outreach and crisis communications. Parten has a proven ability to drive earned, owned and paid media. I have created award-winning marketing collateral and campaigns.
A few of my creative achievements include developing trademarked slogans and innovative marketing concepts that have won numerous Addy Awards and Emmy Award nominations. Developed an innovative concept (“Closed Captioning”) for WAAY television that became a standard for other television stations across the country. Created weather slogan, “The Sky’s Not the Limit,” that became the trademarked slogan for the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce. Created news slogan “Taking Action, Getting Results,” which became trademarked.
I have recruited, trained and led creative teams to exceed corporate expectations in a collaborative culture focused on learning and continuous improvement. Prioritized and executed complex projects in demanding settings while achieving timely, cost-efficient delivery.
I received the Award of Excellence from the Public Relations Council of Alabama for the University of Alabama’s business school alumni magazine, The Executive.
I received my accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2012 and her Travel Marketing Professional (TMP) Certification in 2013. I am a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)
My industry experience includes television, radio, education, academia and tourism. I worked in television for KIRO TV in Seattle, WSFA 12 TV in Montgomery, Alabama and I freelanced at WSB TV in Atlanta and WTTG TV in D.C.
