Background:

I have experience in broadcast media, higher education and tourism.

I am a proactive communications and media professional with skills in strategic  media relations, strategic planning, storytelling, news writing, public relations, crisis communications, and advertising, Magazines, press tours, relationship building, creative copy writing, video production, social media, event planning, fundraising, budgeting, and leadership.

I started out in radio news reporting, then moved to television where I worked in news, promotion and marketing. I was the Director of Communications at the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business. I was the editor of Executive Magazine, the alumni magazine for UA’s business school. My other experience in PR includes positions at Alabama Tourism and the Alabama Department of Education.

While at tourism, I generated millions of dollars annually in media coverage with local, national and international media. I am proactive in building relationships with media and stakeholders. I have experience in coordinating media efforts at the Joint Information Command Center (JICC) in Mobile during Gulf Coast Oil Crisis.

Some of the television stations where I have worked include KIRO TV in Seattle, WAAY and WAFF in Huntsville, Alabama, WSFA 12 in Montgomery, and I have freelanced at WTTG in D.C. and WSB in Atlanta.

I am proud to have won Gold and Silver PROMAX awards, PRCA Awards of Excellence, numerous ADDY Awards, and I received nominations for NATAS (EMMY) Awards.

I received my Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2012. I am a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and former executive board member of the West Alabama Chapter of the Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA).

I received a Master of Science in Communications from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in June 2019.
